ST-70 Top ViewThe popular and affordable Dynaco ST-70 amplifier was originally offered assembled or as a kit. Designed by David Hafler, the ST-70 was economial but well designed. The output transformers are considered by many to be sonically first-class, especially for a "budget" amplifier. This particular Dynaco ST-70 was modified and totally rebuilt from the ground up. The only stock parts retained include the transformers, chassis, cage, and bias resistors. The original circuit upgraded with Welbourne Labs mu-stage and bias designs. This is a wonderful mod that dramatically includes the sound stage, depth, and perceived response of the amp. I've tried several different ST-70 modifications, and in my opinion this circuit is tops! All of the original parts were stripped off of the chassis, which was refinished and chrome plated. New tube sockets, input jacks and output terminals and other parts were installed using stainless steel hardware. The transformers and the tube cage were cleaned and repainted. Many hours -- no make that days - were spent assembling and perfecting this amplifier. The tubes used include US made NOS 6U8s and 5751s.
